As an Afghan refugee, my research draws on both lived experience and academic scholarship. My research covers in two broad areas - archaeology and cultural heritage. In addition, I seek to answer questions of Afghan identity and narratives with particular attention to how museums can contribute to conflict management and the reconstruction of collective identity. After completing my master’s degree in Rome, Italy, I focus on applying these approaches to strengthen connections between Afghan communities and their cultural heritage.

This website is dedicated to sharing Afghanistan’s archaeology, cultural heritage, and artistry. Its aim is to connect people with Afghanistan’s past and present, offering resources that highlight the resilience of its history, particularly in the context of post-Soviet conflicts. I am interested in examining the intersections between cultural heritage and politics in Afghanistan, with a focus on the historical ties between scientific archaeology, imperialism, and occupation, as well as the evolution of museum practices.

I am also interested in preserving monumental heritage for future generations, even in war zones and at personal risk.
