Support Afghan communities facing hardship, displacement, and climate disasters

Afghanistan’s cultural heritage matters, but it can only come second in the country’s struggles today. Both girls and boys, men and women, minority communities, and families across the country continue to experience restrictions, limited access to healthcare, displacement, poverty, and climate related disasters. Contributions may support both heritage initiatives and urgent community needs, because preserving Afghanistan’s future means caring for its people as well as its past.

Transparency matters.
Here is how contributions will be selected, distributed, and documented.

  • Contributions may support Afghan led cultural heritage initiatives, educational resources, community projects, local livelihoods, and urgent assistance for people affected by floods, earthquakes, drought, displacement, or other emergencies. The purpose is to care for Afghanistan’s heritage while also supporting the people and communities who carry it forward.

  • The initiative is intended to support Afghan communities without excluding people because of gender, ethnicity, language, religion, or economic background. Wherever possible, assistance will include girls and boys, women and men, while recognising that access and safety conditions may differ across Afghanistan.

    Many Afghans are facing circumstances that go far beyond limited access to education. Families are living through earthquakes, floods, drought, extreme weather, displacement, food insecurity, and the daily struggle to meet basic needs.

    Contributions may therefore support urgent survival needs such as food, warm clothing, shelter materials, emergency supplies, and assistance after natural disasters. Funds may also support small Afghan led heritage and community initiatives where there is a clear and immediate need.

    The purpose is not only to preserve Afghanistan’s past, but to stand with the people trying to survive and carry that heritage into the future.

  • As an Afghan woman who regularly spends time in Afghanistan, I see firsthand the struggles families face and the strength it takes simply to survive. I travel to Kabul four or five times each year and remain closely connected to people and communities inside Afghanistan. This allows me to better understand where support is most urgently needed and, when possible, to follow my projects directly.

    I will share clear updates showing how much was raised, any unavoidable payment fees, and how the remaining funds were used. Updates may include receipts, photographs, short reports, or descriptions of what was provided. For safety and privacy, names, faces, and exact locations may sometimes be withheld.

  • No. Cultural heritage cannot be separated from the wellbeing of the people who protect, practise, and inherit it. Although this project is rooted in archaeology and heritage, contributions may also support education, artisans and livelihoods, essential community needs, and emergency relief during natural disasters or humanitarian crises.
